Handling Interviewer Pushback

The worst response to pushback is immediate capitulation — especially if you were right. It signals you have no confidence in your own reasoning. The second worst is rigid defensiveness — refusing to consider the interviewer's point even when they are correct. Great engineers in great interviews hold positions with evidence and update positions with new data. This is evaluated explicitly.
